MARY POOL (MARY RIVER) WA

We're off again, this time a mere 110 kms down the Great Northern to the well known and recommended Mary Pool free camp, beside the Mary River. We entered via a short dirt track and then over a rough causeway that would be all but impassable in the wet, noticing that the mighty Mary was now just a (Mary) pool at this time of year in the dry season. There were already quite a few caravans here in the mid afternoon. Marj scouted ahead, finding a reasonably level spot, big enough for the 3 Motorhomes and far enough away from others to afford some privacy. With plenty of birdlife to keep Marj happy with her camera, snapping any stationary feather that is in reach of her considerable zooming capability. We enjoyed the walk along the river bank, keeping a look out for the 2 freshwater crocodiles that one camper had seen down that way. The relaxed environment convinced us to stay for 3 nights while we killed some time waiting for a looming Pension Day and a subsequent replenishment of funds.
The Internet Gods have been kind to us, you have now caught up to me. Let's hope it stay that way for a while.
